“I don't have kids, but if I did I would read this book to them everyday. If you give a kid a fish, you feed her for the day, 2 days maybe, with leftovers. But you can read this book to her, and she'll know how to find fish and vote for the rest of her life. No leftovers! And also democracy!”

- Kumail Nanjiani, Writer, Actor, Comedian

"Running an elementary charter school on Chicago's south side has taught me that leadership is paramount in affecting lasting change. Voting is the most powerful tool we have to hold our leaders accountable. This book helps our students understand that power, and will get them excited about making their voices heard."

- Katherine Myers-Crum, Founder and Executive Director of Great Lakes Academy Charter School

"Sub-aquatic mammals explain the complexities of the democratic system! If only Brexit could have been so delightful."

- Jon Langford, musician, founder of The Mekons and The Waco Brothers

"Voting With a Porpoise is such a delightful lesson for children about the power of democracy. Read this book to your children to start preparing and getting the future generation excited about the importance and power of one’s voice and vote."

- Carolyn DeWitt, President and Executive Director, Rock the Vote

"Voting with a Porpoise is a lively, fun primer on how democracy could work under the supervision of an intelligent species. Here's hoping that ours will one day heed its example."

- Chris Lehmann, Editor-in-Chief, The Baffler

aboutus

Books With a Porpoise was founded by two guys who feel like we all need to learn to work together to solve the difficult problems we face in the world. Who better than a Porpoise and a bunch of Dolphins to show the way.

Their first children's book, Voting With a Porpoise, is a story that teaches children about how elections and voting have the power to solve hard problems. All profits from the book will be donated to 501(c)(3) nonpartisan voting-related causes focused on getting more people of all backgrounds to the polls, such as Rock the Vote, Vote.org, TurboVote, and others.

This is Petey

Petey is a Porpoise

He has lots of good ideas. Like when he convinced his octopus friend that he'd be a great bowler. But his best idea yet was holding a vote to save the dolphin pod he's a part of. You can read about that adventure in Voting with a Porpoise.

Petey likes eating fresh fish, a functional democracy, and great t-shirts and hats with a porpoise like these.
